Perched atop the tranquil waters of Sydney Harbour, the client’s desire for a unique, one-of-a-kind dwelling that would stand out amongst its surroundings was achieved through a design that seamlessly blends contemporary luxury with modernist design.

The house boasts five luxurious bedrooms, a study, and multiple levels of outdoor entertaining areas, including an infinity pool and lush garden spaces. With challenges of its west-facing orientation, it was important for the design to seamlessly capture the northern sun to fill the house was as much natural light as possible through the day.

A particular focus of the design was to ensure that the stunning harbour views were captured from all levels of the residence. The sculptural forms are visible at every level, and the circular staircase featuring a spiraling skylight that connects the different floors is a standout feature. The striking porte cochere, with its distinctive sculptural form, sets the tone of the house and is visible from the streetscape. The shape of this sculptural element is mirrored in the roof form, creating a visual interplay of form and function.

The house is filled with striking curves, shapes, and sculptural forms that create a fascinating interplay of light, shade, and texture. The big volumes of spaces commence with an entrance foyer that is grand and welcoming, leading to open-plan living areas that are both spacious and luxurious. The residence perfectly balances luxury and functionality, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in contemporary architecture.
